Roomy wants to support ‘legacy’ social logins (Google, Facebook, GitHub etc.) as a means to more easily onboard new users (into atproto accounts):

We submitted a PR to support this in the official PDS, but it has not yet been merged upstream. That leaves us with the option to operate our own fork, or defaulting to a different PDS server that supports social logins.

Similarly, OpenMeet has its own accounts system to support legacy social logins alongside atproto, but @tompscanlan.bsky.social (OpenMeet founder) would consider going the integrated-PDS route if legacy-logins could still be supported.
