Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of them, you may not use the Service.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms on its behalf and confirm that you have the authority to do so.

Tangled is built on the AT Protocol. You can create an account hosted by us (with a handle under tngl.sh), or sign in with an AT Protocol account you already have with another provider, such as Bluesky or your own server.

When you create an account with us, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account, including activity by automated tools, scripts or agents that you authorize to act on your behalf.

If your account is hosted by another provider, that provider's own terms also apply to your account and the data it stores.

Important notice

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Service at any time, at our sole discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, violations of these Terms, spam, abuse, or any other behaviour we consider harmful to the Service or to other people using it.

For accounts we host, termination may result in the loss of access to your account, repositories and other content. For accounts hosted elsewhere, it means we stop providing the Service to you and stop serving your content through it; your data on servers we don't run is not affected. We are not obliged to give advance notice, though we may do so.

You can stop using the Service and delete an account we host at any time.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the rights of others
• Upload, store or share content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable
• Send spam, including automated or AI-generated issues, pull requests or comments in bulk
• Engage in phishing or other deceptive practices
• Gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or to other accounts
• Misuse shared resources, for example by running cryptocurrency mining or other workloads unrelated to your projects on our hosted CI
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the servers connected to it

You retain ownership of the content you publish through the Service. By publishing content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, display and distribute it as necessary to operate and provide the Service.

This license does not replace the license you choose for your code. Public repositories and the records you publish on the AT Protocol, such as issues, comments and stars, are public: anyone can view them, and other services on the network can read and display them.

You can run your own knots, spindles and account hosting and connect them to Tangled. If you do, you are the operator of that infrastructure and are responsible for it and for the data it holds. These Terms apply to your use of the parts of the Service we run.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal data, and forms part of these Terms.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

To the extent permitted by law, Tangled and its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use or goodwill, resulting from your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Tangled and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

We may modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a change is material, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect. By continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect, you agree to the updated Terms.
